I must say that last nights Ostara celebration really moved me. It is always fufilling to know that what we put into a holiday really has meaning and/or impact to others in a positive way. Last night was certainly one of those events.
We started off the evening on a scattered energy...I put my evening outline down and couldn't find it, forgot to distribute the drink before everything started, etc. However, we took a moment and everyone grounded themselves, we recentered and moved forward with the ritual.
We used a new quarter calling, god/goddess calling intro...of course I started to light the wrong quarter candle first...then started to light the goddess candle too early....a small eruption of laughter ensued, myself included (besides, if you cannot laugh at your mistakes, how can you ever grow from them). We got everyone educated on the reason for the holiday, everyone called in, everyone smudged in, everyone grounded, then it was time for the spell work.
Spellwork usually never goes smoothly and sure, I forgot the candle and oil for the seed blessing and I forgot the candle for the prosperity spell, but I quickly realized while working the spells that they were unnecessary and just words that I had to move over. Blessed the seeds, made everyone happy, then it was time for the big spell, the mother of all spells for me, this next spell was daunting. I wasn't sure if I could control all the energy that was about to be built. I took a moment to sit and talk about how our cities have changed and how much we need to begin a change, start a road of improvement. With Ostara being the awakening of the lands, so should this evening be about awakening the spirits in the hearts of man, really awakening the lands, bringing about a healing, a dawning of prosperity...at least for the Downriver area of Michigan to start.
So with the help of my loving and patient husband, I got everyone to start chanting to raise energy...Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali, Inanna. Over and over as the music rose so did the energy. Then...of course, the song needed to repeat which caused a misalignment with our words and a brief hiccup of energy...but it worked out quickly. The energy raised even higher now, "it's time, no turning back now." I could feel the energy flowing, it was swirling around me like a reverse tornado, spiraling to a point at the top, my hair was standing on end in what felt like a static filled room, my head was swimming with words and energy...I could have been lost there forever, it felt wonderful...but this energy wasn't about me, it was about helping others...It began, I started to recite the spell in a commanding voice, as everyone continued to sing as instructed. Then the time came to send the spell out. "SO MOTE IT BE!" I say...everyone is supposed to follow me up by saying 'So Mote it Be' instead they continue singing....oh well, the energy doesn't care...It begins errupting like a volcano, leaving the building, shooting high into the air and begins rolling down itself and the building, spreading like wildfire over the lands. I see dirty, broken buildings rebuilding and becoming shiny clean right before my eyes. My vision carries on to show children beginning to play in the streets and money raining down on the lands increasing financial prosperity to all. It was a success, the prosperity spell has been released to the local lands. Then...I realized, I am teetering, I am about to fall over from the massive amount of energy. I rocked back and forth a couple times, then I had to put my hand on the altar to steady myself. My knees almost gave out on me, but I was able to hold everything together and recover as the last of the energies dispensed and took hold.
A success, it was a success! We performed cakes and ale (cookies, milk with honey & vanilla in it), released and closed everything, then socialized for awhile.
I am so grateful to all the wonderful people who came out and helped celebrate the return of spring with Smokey Crystal, and very thankful to all whom lent their energies for the spell work to begin a change that will heal the lands. With Beltane, the prosperity spell will be stretched further, encompassing more, healing more. Each Sabbat will have a prosperity spell in it that will expand this work further until the entire state is covered. Then I will see what we need to do to expand this healing across the country.
